The joy of a loving parent is a healthy child and a healthy
child is a result of good mother care. Since a child can’t express
himself/herself when sick, it is better to be on the preventive side.
Try as
much as possible to make your child eat healthy and live healthy. This might be
difficult but below are some ways to make it easier;
- Be a good role model; your child follows your footsteps, eat healthy and live healthy to encourage them.
- Be positive always; kids don’t like being told what not to do, so it’s better you tell them what to do and make it fun, no shouting.
- Be active as a family; plan family walks, bike rides or swimming together.
- Limit TV, video game and computer time; these activities only encourage sedentary lifestyle and increase the risk of obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
- Support physical activities that they really enjoy; let them experiment and have fun. Kids will love the activities they enjoy most. Remember that every child is unique.
- Pick healthy rewards at all times. Healthy snacks and treats are great rewards.
- Let dinnertime be a family time; this will reduce the chance of kids eating junks. Home-made foods are always the best. Let them be involved the cooking.
